Civic areas need to consider virtual space as well.

With the numerous activities happening in the civic area, many of them need to be shared electronically with the community rather than just expecting activists to participate physically at city hall. Some immediate activities that could be audio/video streamed are all board meetings and hearings. This could be easily accomplished using free services like Usteam.Another avenue would be to access local television M-DTV channels that are designed for reception by mobile devices through the air, not using cell data. I would like to be able to access Planning Board or Library Commission meetings without having to be in the Civic area or having to pay for a cable television connection. We cable TV subscribers do pay for a citizens PEG channel cost and do not receive a "public" channel currently. Those monthy charges could be put towards funding this better civic meeting coverage by channel 8 staff.
