Participants in Inspire Boulder have submitted ideas for the Boulder Civic Area, Transportation and other topics. What is striking is the paucity of participation in this site. Compared to the activity on the Inspire Littleton site there is almost no participation here. Why? Are Boulder's citizens increasingly disengaged? Do they believe that city council does not represent the diversity of opinion in the city? Therefore, why bother?
The entire process called for on Inspire Boulder is all small ball. It is reactive not visionary. The leadership of the city appears to want citizen input but the structure it provides simply guarantees a plethora of diverse suggestions without focus. This will allow the council to goes its own way secure in the knowledge that it "reached out."
